What to expect
Your photo session will be relaxed, fun and enjoyable for the whole family.
I love to capture how families and couples naturally interact and enjoy each other.
During an average session, we spend an hour or two taking photos, and allow breaks for kids to have snacks, rest or whatever it takes. Photo sessions are never rushed.
The best advice I can give you is to make sure you’re well rested on the day of your photo session (that goes for kiddos too!), eat something and stay well hydrated.
Believe it or not, bad moods can show up in pictures!
The better you feel, the better you’ll look.
When you arrive for the photo session, don’t be afraid to dance, skip, twirl and laugh! Photo sessions are never rushed.
I want you to enjoy the experience
In a couple of day, I will post a private online gallery of approximately 20-30 proofs.
The online gallery will be view able for 1 month. You will need to place any orders within this time frame.
Email me with the items you’d like with their corresponding gallery image numbers.
CD and/or printed products are mailed out 1-3 weeks after I receive full payment.
Illness &Weather
Rescheduling is usually a last resort due to a very full calendar. If someone is sick, however, let me know as soon as you can so we can reschedule.
I do complete retouching on all of your proofs, so please don’t worry about minor cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc.
Weather reports can’t always be trusted, so unless you hear otherwise from me, our session is still on (some of the best light is on a cloudy day). However, if it’s storming, we’ll need to find another time or day.
Children & Families
Innocence. Honesty. That goofy face they’re always making.
The way their nose wrinkles when they giggle. Their shy, daydreaming stare. The way their hair won’t lay just right.
These are the things I strive to capture. I enjoy providing a fun and relaxed experience that will capture the personalities that are unique to each family.
My goal is to capture you and your family at your happiest, which, with children, may call for potty breaks, snack breaks, clothing changes, or just time to settle down and get used to me and my camera... but also not *so* much time that they’ve completely had it.
I want the experience to be fun, not a chore! Please let me lead the way and ask you if I need help. No need for threats or bribes, although I may have a few bribes up my own sleeve.
I will work at their level and their pace. Sometimes, we’ll work one-on-one, away from the pressures of “performing” for Mom and Dad.
I will do a mixture of formal and candid shots in order to capture you and your family as you really are.
I might play and run alongside your child and treat the session as a play date if it means I’ll capture them in their natural element.
Real smiles. Real memories.
Please bring snacks and water, but try to avoid things that are going to color or get stuck in their teeth.
A favorite doll, a colorful toy, or other activities like bubbles, etc. are wonderful.
Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before.
A parent or legal guardian must always be present during the photo session.
It is your responsibility to make sure kids stay safe, and that infants and babies are within your arms’ reach.

What to wear to a photo shoot:
Tip 1:
Be comfortable! If you are comfortable you will take better photos.
It’s hard to look relaxed if your pants are too tight and you’re worried about the buttons popping open on your shirt.
We understand that sometimes those really awesome 3 inch platform heels may look great, but make sure you can breathe and move in your clothing choices.
For multi-location shoots, bring a pair of flip-flops to wear while in between
locations so you aren’t stuck having to smile through the pain caused by those beautiful heels.

Tip 2:
It’s hard to go wrong with jeans. Is there a more versatile piece of clothing? You can dress them up or down and they look good in every setting. Let your personality shine through. Pictures should be fun! Tip 3:
Don’t be “that” guy or girl. You know, the one in a red shirt with black pants while everyone else is wearing beige neutrals. You don’t all have to match, just stay in the same color palette. The picks below give several different palette ideas for inspiration. Tip 4:
MAKEUP! Makeup will photograph 1-2 shades lighter than it actually is. Apply your makeup in natural daylight to see how it will most likely turn out in your photos. Matte colors are the safest as shimmering colors reflect light. A little shimmer on the eyes can look great, but too much on the face and you will just look shiny. Use a little lip gloss over your lipstick. Your lips will look full and plump. Black mascara will make your eyes pop better than a brown mascara, as will false lashes too. Finally, dust with powder…shiny four-heads and chins are not cute and can kill your photos. Bring powder on your shoot for touch ups, especially on warm days. |
